5 Years of Successful Collaboration: Helping Odyssey Energy Solutions Build their Platform

Introduction

Odyssey’s mission is to accelerate the clean energy transition in emerging markets.

The Odyssey platform enables renewable energy companies, financiers and suppliers to deploy more projects, faster.

Starting back in 2018, FernTech, which was later acquired by Odyssey Energy Solutions, reached out to HackSoft for a simple consultation around their Django-based platform.

The challenge

After the initial consultation phase, FernTech were very pleased with HackSoft’s professional approach and decided to proceed with a long-term engagement, to effectively help them build the entire platform.

In order to address the arising challenges, HackSoft was involved in almost every aspect of the software & product development of the platform:

1. Full-stack software development for the platform.

2. Infrastructure and scalability around the data that was being ingested.

3. Working on various IoT (Internet of Things) related topics, including drivers & communication.

1. Further full-stack development of the platform.

3. Effectively collaborating with the folks at Odyssey, to figure out how to combine everything into one seamless experience for the end customer.

The solution

The initial long-term commitment turned into a very fruitful long-term partnership.

And in order to turn this partnership into success, HackSoft leveraged its expertise in the following areas:

1. Building backends with Python & Django.

2. Building frontends with React & Angular.

3. Scaling on AWS based infrastructures.

4. Organizing and storing both relational & time-series data.

5. Developing IoT drivers for custom hardware platforms.
